St. Maarten / St. Martin is the Culinary Capital of the Caribbean

The island expresses its culinary soul by giving voice to cuisines from the far-flung corners of the globe. For an unforgettable dining experience, you have the choice of over 300 restaurants.

Recently St. Maarten participated in the Taste of the Caribbean. A celebration of Contemporary Caribbean Cuisine and culture, which showcases the diversity of culinary skills and styles found throughout the Caribbean.

The St. Maarten Culinary Team consists of the following four chefs - Cecile Briaud-Richard of Le Chanteclair, Dino Jagtiani of Temptation, Scott Clagett of Terra and Mario Tardiff of Mario's Bistro- and bartender Michael Arrindel of Chesterfields.

St. Maarten's menu comprised of:

  • Appetizer; Coconut curried Grouper cake, served with Scallop and tropical fruit ceviche and a corn Panacotta with whipped avocado
  • Main: Sugar cane roasted pork loin, served with black bean rice and Plantain roll filled with slow cooked Skirt steak, cardamom hollandaise
  • Dessert: caramelized Pineapple dome with a chocolate and ginger mousse with nougatine.

With this menu, the St. Maarten Culinary Team won the Taste of the Caribbean 2005...
